Going Grey // The Thursday Thrift

This is my last Thursday Thrift post for the year, everyone, can you believe it?  It really seems like just yesterday when I started making this a regularly occurring topic.  For my last thrift inspired outfit post of 2013, I have for you a grey-ish striped shirt.

I am seriously lacking in the shirt department so I am always on the look out for them, and I found this one at a yard sale a few months back.  The first thing I saw when I got the shirt was the nonexistent short sleeves.  How can this be, you might be wondering, this shirt looks like it has long sleeves to me?  Well, it does have long sleeves, and that is just because I didn’t chop them off once I got home like I originally intended.

I dislike long sleeves so much that I hardly own any – sweaters, cardigans, and undershirts not included.  The very few that I do buy, don’t keep their length very long.  In fact the only reason this shirt still has sleeves that reach below my elbows is because I’ve been too busy sewing dresses lately to care about changing threads and hemming shirts.

I think after wearing it today with sleeves, I just might want to keep it how it is.  I don’t know, but it seems to work with this dress and I just might find that I want my arms covered without the use of a sweater one day.  The shirt is thin, so I shouldn’t have to worry about feeling hot and stuffy, which is how I normally feel with long sleeves, and if they bother me enough, I could always scrunch them up.

Why I don’t feel so irritated with the arm length of sweaters and cardigans, I don’t know, I guess I just expect them to be that way, and if I want I can always remove them.  Ah, it is probably because I am not just picky about my shoes, I am finding that I am picky about a lot of other things as well, shirts included!

Surely I am not the only one who doesn’t like long sleeves, or turtlenecks, or slouchy pants, or… I will stop there.  How about you, is there something you just can’t stand to wear, or won’t wear?
