I’d say good morning, but it is already afternoon, so how about a good afternoon instead.  My day is off to a great start.  Many of my friends are on the beach this week though, and I can’t help but have a little part of me wishing I was there too, soaking up the sun while lounging about the seaside.  Instead, I’m here in my regular locale, teaching school and trying really hard not to let myself scratch any of the bug bites currently bothering me this very minute.  I’ve got a lot of them this summer.  I guess it just comes with the territory of being outdoors this time of the year.

Thistles and Butterflies 3

I’ve got a few more flower pictures to post for today.  For a split second I couldn’t remember what it was I usually like to post on Monday’s, it’s been so long, then it immediately dawned on me, it’s Me-Made-Monday.  Since I don’t have any pictures of my most recent make ready to go up just yet, I will make do with more pictures of another one of my favorite summer flowers.

Thistles and Butterflies2

I just love how all three of my favorite flowers are weeds.  It makes it really easy for me to enjoy them.  I don’t have to put in any work to get them to grow, and I don’t have to drive far to see more than enough.  As much as I drive, it’s sometimes as if I am surrounded by them.  Fields with thistles and Queen Anne’s Lace are everywhere!  The passion flowers (like the one from the other night), however, are a little harder to come by.  They are mostly intertwined amongst other weeds just out of drive-by sight.

Thistles and Butterflies

I’ve got thistles to show today.  They are so pretty, and right now, so many that I see are covered with butterflies, which make for some great photos if you have the time to stop and take a few pictures.  I had some time to stop and take more than just a few, and a couple even came out alright.  I hope you all enjoy them.

Any other wildflower lovers out there?  What is your favorite flower this time of the year?

  1. Hey, we have the same theme!

I love your photos, thistles are really awesome – and you’re so lucky that the ones near you are so covered in butterflies. I’m really enjoying my sweet peas at the moment: I thought they were done for the summer but now they’re having a second wind!

    1. Why, thank you! Sweet peas are also really pretty. It’s always great when flowers come back for a second wind. 🙂
Yes, we do have the same theme! I really like it, but I sometimes wish that the photo space was a bit bigger. Which brings me to this question… I stopped by and had a browse of your site and noticed your photos seem to appear bigger. What have you done differently, if anything, to adjust your theme photo settings? Maybe it is something I have overlooked. They are beautiful, by the way, your photos. Travel blogs and travel photography are some of my favorites to read and look at.

      1. Thank you for stopping by, I’m glad you like my photos. I did a little compare and contrast and the only difference I can see is that all my photos are square and yours are landscape, which I guess is down to editing the feature photo – I have no special tricks! I know what you mean about wanting them bigger though – I like the white space and minimalism but there is perhaps a bit too much? I really like your logo/title thing, I think making one of those will be my task for the day…

        1. You are right, the way they are cropped is what it is. My logo was a pretty easy make, although at the time I thought it was going to be a lot harder than it actually was. There’s nothing like Photoshop and free time when it comes to trying to be creative with pictures and designs. Looking forward to seeing yours. 🙂

  2. Beautiful pictures. I’ve been enjoying butterflies on my zinnias. We also have a wild purple flower in the field that butterflies love. It is just starting to bloom. I have no idea what it is. Wish I knew.

      1. Great! I googled it just now to see what it looks like (I’m not very flower savvy), it’s a pretty one! I am going to be on the the lookout for those. The website I found says it’s in my area. 🙂
