Going to the beach isn’t the only thing I did in December. The month ended up being fairly laid back and I very much enjoyed the last of 2023. We got home from the beach and got to continue our outside deck time. This was definitely the year we spent the most time on the deck, the new dining table helped with that. The weather was probably 10-15 degrees cooler on our Tennessee deck than it was on our vacation deck, but we had several more evenings of dinner and chillaxing, and even a few more mornings of coffee outside before the month was over, and before the mornings turned cold. We’ve been waking up to temps in the 30s for the last week so we did not end the month outside.

Stephen got more hunting in. No shots for December, but two deer so far this hunting season is pretty good! Even the boy got out and hunted several times this month, and I think for him it’s been over three years since he even thought about waking up early enough to go sit in a deer stand. Those tree stands for me don’t look like my idea of fun. In fact they seem kinda scary. Too high and uncomfortable for me. I prefer a different kind of hunting stand.

In shoe news (remember when at one time I used to write about my shoes?), I found my most recent wish list pair of Doc Martens and I bought them. I had pretty much thought I would never own a pair of shoes like this. They have been discontinued and I am part of a small few that wear the smallest adult size of Doc Martens. Anyway, thanks to a rare sighting of these Elphies posted by an Instagram ‘friend’, I went to eBay and they were mine. As good as new and the are the real deal – one of the things I sometimes worry about when spending money of items you can only assume are portrayed correctly in the photographs. Some people spend their money on rare Nike Air Jordans, I spent mine on rare Doc Martens. I have for sure had wonderful luck with getting some hard to find shoes for a great deal. And if I chose not to wear them, I can already sell them and make more than I spent. Shoe flipping is a thing.

My dad and I bottled one more batch of wine for 2023. It was a wine kit that we had in a barrel and it’s pretty good stuff! There are currently three barrels to go that will be ready to be bottled in 2024.

Stephen was able to be off of work for pretty much the whole last week of the month. We went to IKEA. Thinking about it now, we should have spent that day car shopping instead of browsing for storage solutions, duvet covers, and shelves. Right now as I write this post, my guy is on his lunch break looking at cars. Yes, I think I have driven my last drive in my Mini Cooper. She got me home, but I don’t think she will again.

And that was what the rest of December looked like for me. We ended the year out at the cabin enjoying our time together. This year was the fastest I can remember, it blows my mind! I have a feeling 2024 is going to be a crazy one! I’ll be ready for it, with new shoes and a new car. Let’s go… ❤
