Good day, dear readers! I hope you are all doing well this wet and dreary Friday. We are right in the path of the remnants of Hurricane Helene and are expecting an all day rain storm. So far it’s been steadily coming down since late last night, nothing too crazy or severe. If I can get my act together here at the house before it gets worse, I hope to get my end-of-the-week shopping done earlier rather than later. We shall see how that goes. I am taking advantage of the wet and dreary day to catch up on things around the house and I reminded myself that I had plenty of computer work to do so let me start on the blog.
September is almost over, can you believe it? As it usually is for me, September was a pretty good month. The start of fall and nicer weather, plus with summer over it is easy for me to get back into a regular routine of everyday life. There aren’t as many spontaneous outings once the lazy days of summer are over and most of my friends are back to school and teaching, so I have no excuses for getting things done.
The month started on a good note. Let me back track first, I don’t mention the boy as much these days since he’s on his own, but he was the center of a good part of my summer. He got a new to him car back in July. He made the 1000 plus mile drive to bring it home, had it a week and got into a fender bender. It’s an older car, and there was no need for the insurance company to even attempt to get it fixed – or looked at for that matter – so it was deemed a total loss. He had it for one week! It was his dream car. A couple months later, with lots of time of mine spent worrying about it (I was mostly so bummed out that my boy wasn’t going to end up with the car), it got sorted out and everything is fixed. He drove it home from the shop at the beginning of the month and is more than happy with his new ride. I even got the chance to drive it around one day. Corvettes were at one time my dream car. Well they still are, but I think I like Mini Coopers more. Must be a girl thing to chose a Mini Cooper over a Corvette. 😉

So the headache of car repairs is out of the way, September was also pretty nice for a weekend away. I already touched on that some in the last post so there’s not much more to say. We do tend to make a long weekend in Nashville a regular thing during the month of September and I will look forward to next year’s.

The rest of the month was all about muscadines. We picked for two weeks, a lot less picking time this year but we had more help this time around. My mom made it out, as she usually does, for our biggest week of harvest, and since the help we had was so good, we got it done in record time. Plus, we found a new customer to buy some of our grapes and I am looking forward to having a new winery to visit with wine from our muscadines sometime in the spring. We learned that we have about a 3000 pound yield of grapes with the vines that we have. We sold them all. Cheers to that!

Last weekend my guy got to be a farmer for a couple of hours and helped to plant his hunting field so he will be ready for October when it cools down some and he starts hunting. Will this year be the year that I tag along? Stay tuned to find out…

As for me, well I am ready for the cooler days and nights that come with this time of the year. September is always great, but I really like October. All in all, I have no complaints about the month. It flew by, but what month hasn’t in the last several years?
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
