January for me has flown by. This isn’t usually the case. Most years January just drags on. There has been a good amount going on this month, so now that I look back it seems like it has been a pretty long month. I will start with the chandelier.

I ended the year with a light fixture in my dining room. Now I have none. I must be the pickiest person when it comes to light fixtures. I couldn’t stand the sputnik light with the wobbly arms, so I found a replacement at Lowe’s. While at the gym one evening my boy came over and installed the new one. He called me on my way home and said he knew I wouldn’t like it. He was right! He’ll just have to put up the original one until I can find THE PERFECT light. The original somehow didn’t survive the take down and reinstall so it’s broken and the perfect wish list chandelier has been bought and I am patiently waiting for it to arrive. There is no way I won’t like it! Um, well, let’s just wait and see what I think once it gets put up…

Out in the family vineyard, we started the year planting. We got 33 new muscadine vines and 24 new blackberries into the ground. Perfect timing too! It was cold the day we planted, but not as cold as a couple of days later.

It snowed! I don’t know why I think we don’t really get snow here in West TN. I was thinking back and I can’t remember when we didn’t get snow in January. At least this year the snow didn’t come with arctic temperatures. Those came the week after, once the snow had melted. It’s been a cold month! I am ready for spring.

Other noteworthy happenings from the month so far include the gym and potluck parties. I’m doing group training again at the gym, and it’s three days a week this time in addition to my regular class schedule. I was on the fence about it, and I already had a couple of training programs I could do myself, but it was a nice change up having group training the last couple months. I am doing my best to make progress. And it’s time to dial in the eating habits cause I am over the extra weight I’ve been carrying for the last several years.

And speaking of weight loss, as the saying goes, The diet starts tomorrow! My wonderful friend group had planned a New Mexican food potluck party a couple of months back and yesterday was party day! Several types of enchiladas, posole, chile – red and green – sopapillas, homemade tortillas, Chile Colorado, Spanish rice, and more. It was delicious! And the time with friends was even better than the food for me. ❤
I have a long to do list for this last week of the month, so I shall end my monthly recap here. January has been great, despite the cold and even the snow. All the extra time spent with friends and family this month has been wonderful, and the gym is lately one of my favorite places to be.
I hope everyone else is having a great start to your 2025.
