I know I got a little behind over here, but I didn’t realize it’s almost been half a year! Anyone still out there?
Hello, hello, my internet friends! How has 2026 been to you? I have no complaints as the year has been a pretty great one so far for me. I don’t know how half of it has already gone by, but here we are. So let me catch up.
No need to be on the edge of your seats waiting for some big new story of my life and that’s why I have been MIA. If anything, everything continues on just as always. I do very much love my life and think it’s pretty exciting in its own way, but my weeks do sometimes blend and seem about the same. I think the best recap would be to give you all highlight of what has happened each month since I last updated on my very normal life.

January – The year started great! Thought of some plans, goals, and purchases to pursue for the year. One of which, a vehicle upgrade for my guy. As of now, we have only window shopped. What started as a little sporty Toyota, has recently turned into a Mustang. We are still several months out on any vehicle purchases, so there is plenty of time for this to change. (I think it will be a Mustang!)
The end of January brought The Ice Storm of 2026! It was bad. Thankfully, we personally didn’t lose any power. That wasn’t the case for the cabin, the RV park, or several of those we knew. And Middle Tennessee had it even worse with many weeks of no power. We dodged a catastrophe there because we were not prepared were we to have lost power. Another thing added to the list of things to get done in 2026.

February – A week and a half in to February and we still had ice and snow on the ground! The longest lingering storm I’ve experienced in my 20 plus years of living in TN. But this was not the highlight of the month. Looking back, I’d say the highlight of my February was my newest lighting purchase. The wish list lamp that started my West Elm lighting love affair. I finally got it! It was many many years ago that I came upon this lamp, but it was only available in white. I got the table top ones in black and was beyond happy with them that I put the white one out of my head. Until February. Thanks to the internet powers that be that like to read your mind and put the things you are thinking about in your social media feeds, this lamp came back into mind. Even though black was my lamp color scheme, white all of a sudden didn’t seem like a bad idea. After all, my colors are black and white. I got it and I couldn’t be happier with it! Never thought a lamp would make me so happy, ha ha.

March – The best month of the year so far – We went to Las Vegas! We booked the trip at the end of December and anxiously awaited the day. It was awesome! I flew somewhere for the first time since 2017. We found a truly wonderful dog sitter – the first trip the pups didn’t go on with us. And Stephen and I went somewhere new together since I don’t even remember when! We packed everything we could into two and a half days. It was just like the old vacation days of ours where we needed a vacation from out vacation. One day I got over 20k steps and one day almost blended into two! We are absolutely making Las Vegas be another trip we take sometime soon.

April – Our usual spring beach trip month, and it was another great one! We stayed at the Caribbean Condos of Gulf Shores, as we always do. This time we were on the third floor. The weather was great and we just enjoyed the whole week relaxing. We almost saw a balloon glow, but the weather cut it short. If ever we have the desire to see one again, we already know where to go that will almost guarantee seeing a balloon glow through. (When was the last hometown visit?)

May – Graduation month! A couple others from my school teaching days have graduated. Another reminder of how time flies by and we are all just getting older. It was a wonderful event and I always enjoy an excuse to get dressed up! If only my hair would cooperate for the dressed up days!

June – Now to the present. It’s been a pretty chilled back month. There has been weekly trips to the local pool. The RV park is full with long term renters. The days have been long and enjoyable. I’ve spent some time doing summery things like reading and relaxing more than usual. And I am working on sewing another little quilt. I think I have one more week left on it. The month has flown by though and I am happy to have gotten this little recap posted before another month was over.
Sorry for being so sporadic with posting over here – apology mostly to myself. I do so enjoy my little blog. Even if I don’t have much to say, I can usually come up with something to ramble about. And in the era of AI, I am happy to say this is all written by me, no AI needed. :-)
Until next time!
