Dear Diary 2024: Last Month I…

Scroll down to content

February has come and gone and I never even said anything about it. It may have been the shortest month, but I feel like I did a lot considering. Needless to say, it flew by because here it is mid-March, and it seems only two weeks ago that I was on my computer updated on January. And what felt like two weeks ago really was six weeks.

So before I forget, February looked like this.

The month started sunshiny and warm enough to wash the Rav for the first time. And so far I have consistently remained on a biweekly washing schedule. The other vehicles in my driveway have in this time been neglected and both the Mini and the truck are in desperate need of washing. Perhaps this weekend I can put all three on the car wash schedule.

Cool mornings on the deck with sunshine made a comeback. We only had a couple of mornings like this, as it was either colder than we’d like or wet and rainy, but any chance we get to spend time in the morning sun we will take it.

February was planting month. We got 36 new vines planted out at the vineyard. I’d say the timing was perfect. We got them finished this particular day moments before the rain showed up. A whole new row has been added!

February was also the month we pruned. It was actually very nice weather the day we planted and the first two days of pruning, I’d even say it was warm. But the last day it got cold again and I could have done with another layer of clothes. But we got it all done and had some extra help this time which helped accelerate the task significantly. I reckon hiring pruners will forever be a regular occurrence from here on out.

Daisy and Aspen are still living their best lives!

I started some work on my own yard. I don’t mind working in the vineyard at all, but when it comes to doing yard work at home, that is another story. But, I got a start with it and pruned this overgrown bush in my backyard. I have since cleaned up all the branches, added some landscape timbers to the garden bed so that I can add more rocks, and I ordered two new deck chairs that are currently awaiting assembly. If the weather is accommodating this weekend, we shall have a new seating situation out there.

Good progress has been made out at the RV park. This is from February, but since then we have a well and a start on the walls to the laundry cellar you see here. This project is moving along nicely and I think it won’t be long until we have it all done. Time flies, remember?

That is the gist of my happenings from February. March is moving along nicely, and I will be back very soon with that mid-month update. Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Don't leave yet! Tell me what you think.
