Dress Season

It is almost springtime!  The birds are already singing their songs, and before long the dull and bleak landscapes will be greening up, and the wonderful smell of the season will be in the air.  After this winter, spring just can’t come soon enough.

Other than the welcome change from winter, spring is also a time for social and formal events of all kinds.  If you are young enough, perhaps getting dressed for a school dance is in order.  Or maybe, you will be the blushing spring bride.  Or you might be like me, and a guest to an upcoming wedding reception.  Spring has quite a few what-to-wear moments and I am well aware of this.

If you have read my blog long enough, you may remember that it was around this time last year that I was excitedly looking for a more formal style dress for an upcoming fancy occasion.  I found one, but not after spending plenty of time hunting the web, and even making a special trip to the big city.  At the time, I had no idea where to start.  But now, I am finding myself in need of the perfect wedding party, guest dress, and I have a few more options this time around.  I am mostly browsing, ultimately I would like to make my own dress for this quickly approaching occasion, but what if I couldn’t do that?

I was recently contacted by the site VictoriasDress.co.uk, and asked if I might take a look and find some dresses that I liked.  They carry a wide variety of dresses for all kinds of occasions; from wedding dresses, to long prom dresses, short prom dresses, and even plus size evening dresses; they have it all.  Really, this collaboration couldn’t have come at a better time.  Now had I only known about them this time last year.

When it comes to a fancy dress, I am interested in something pretty, but not too flashy and definitely not too revealing.  As I was browsing the site, it seemed I might just find something that I was looking for.  Also, as my current style tastes are a bit on the vintage side, I was looking for some classic designs.  Guess what?  I found several.

It is sometimes hard to narrow down favorites when looking at formal evening dresses but these were the three that caught my eye:

sexy evening dressIt is green, I already love it.  Plus it is a simple, but still elegant style with some great little details, and it isn’t too short.  I would say a perfect chiffon prom dress.  Should you love the dress but hate the color (not everyone loves green as much as I do), all of the dresses that I looked at seem to be available in a variety of color choices.

cheap prom dressAh, the little black dress, nothing says cocktail dress quite like it.  I am trying to avoid only going for black dresses, but this would be my choice if I weren’t trying to add some color.  The sheer top and the added silver belt with the A-line style make it very easy to wear just as is, no extra accessories would be required.

unique evening dressAnd in the neutral category, this lovely, flowy knee length dress that one could accessorize very easily.  I think of the three, this one just might be my favorite.

All of the dresses come in standard sizing or you could have them made to fit.  This ensures not only will the dress be the one you want, but also you won’t have to worry about any surprises in fit when it arrives at your door.  The site is a UK based site, but all items ship internationally and the shipping times seem very reasonable.  Also reasonable, I thought the prices were great.  There is a currency converter on the site at the very top left and also for each individual item.

What do you think?  Is shopping online for unique prom dresses or cheap evening dresses for you?
