The Thursday Thrift // February 2016

Most of my thrifted wardrobe comes from either the Goodwill or in the form of hand-me-downs.  And usually, my thrifted wardrobe consists of sweaters or skirts.  I have another sweater to show you all today.  At least I’ve taken a turn from only having way too many thrifted skirts.

pattern clashing

This yellow striped sweater is the newest addition to the thrifted side of my closet.  (Actually, I don’t really keep my clothes separated in such a way; let me just make that clear, okay.)  It wasn’t technically ‘thrifted,’ but more like ‘gifted,’ and as I’ve said numerous times before, hand-me-downs are Thursday Thrift worthy over here on the blog.

I wasn’t sure I’d like this sweater though.  Number one: I didn’t know with what I’d wear it.  Number two: it has puffy sleeves.  I don’t ever like puffy sleeves.  But, I took it anyway because all of the dresses I seem to make don’t have sleeves, and I always need a nice sweater to go with every one of them.  I figured there was one dress it would wear well with.

This outfit will be my trial run to see if I can deal with sleeves, and it shouldn’t take me too long to know if I can deal with this particular type of pattern clashing.  What do you think?  Is this outfit a yay or a nay?  Leave me a comment and let me know.  Also, let me know if you have anything thrifted in your outfit posts.  I always enjoy seeing how others style their thrifty finds.

FYI – I don’t think the yellow leggings are going to be making the final cut.  After seeing these pics, I think it’s just a bit too much.  It’s gonna have to be the sweater or the leggings when I leave the house, but not both.

  1. I really like the yellow leggings, the black in the dress contrasts really well but it seems to wash out your boots. All you really need to do is give them a quick polish to bring back the depth of the leather.
