Good morning, internet! How’ve ya been, all you readers? Whenever I seem to skip any regular posts just know it’s cause I’ve been busy. And I have. I had a few things I wanted to get done before the month was over, and I am happy to say I am just about there. The only thing lacking at this point would be one more dress added to my me-made collection for the month, but I’ve got the fabric cut out so I am getting close.
I mentioned it a time or two before last year that I was working on a video project, well it is finished. As of last weekend though, I was starting to think I might make it through the first month of 2017 not having touched it at all – or even my camera for that matter. Sunday evening, I pulled my video up and got to working on it. Last year I used the video snapshot feature of my camera and took 4 second video clips throughout the whole year. Initially my plan was to have a clip from every single day, but that idea went as far as a couple of months before I realized I was going to have way too much of a video at the year’s end. So it became more random and I ended 2016 with 13 minutes and 40 seconds of video footage, which I then proceeded to clip down to 7 minutes and 45 seconds. It was hard cutting it down. My guy thought the average video viewer’s attention span would be about 5 minutes so I tried to get it that short, but just couldn’t do it.
I am pretty happy with how it came out. Editing videos is totally out of my comfort zone, I am only just getting the hang of working with photos after all. But, the software my camera came with made it easy to cut and shift the clips around and even had the ability to add music. Pretty user friendly, actually! I would love to do another one of these again and maybe next time use some different video editing software.
I’d love for you to check it out: My 2016, condensed into just under 8 minutes. Enjoy!
I like your life. And I loved the end. In fact I watched it twice.

This just makes my day! Thank you. As much as I watched the clips of it throughout the year, I still can’t get enough of it. I’ve watched it a handful of times since I’ve posted it.

I started the video without really having a direction for it, just random clips, but yes, the seasonal progression ended up being very obvious which made it all the more better, I think. Thanks for your comment! It means a lot to me to get such great feedback from readers. 🙂

Thank you! I didn’t think I would do one for this year, but since it was so easy and the end results so rewarding, I have an idea for another one. I have another work in progress on my hands…

I am happy you found my blog as well. And I am glad to be of some inspiration. I actually got the inspiration for this from something similar a fellow blogger posted years back. Only it was just clips from a few months out of the year. Making mine for the whole year did make me anxious a few times waiting so long to see the final result, but it was worth it. 🙂
