Hi, everyone! I’m a few days late with my post, but I have a good excuse. We spent a good amount of time this weekend in the woods, and also I haven’t been feeling too well. In fact, today is almost like a sick day for me. It’s been a long while since I’ve had a cold, I can’t even remember the last time it was, and it seems I’ve been fighting something since last Tuesday and this morning was the morning I woke up feeling the worst. I’m not entirely miserable, but some extra sleep and hot tea has helped. I’ve had a headache for three days and now have this annoying chesty cough. My boy just used up the last of the osha root a month or so ago, so I only have my newly made quart of elderberry syrup to medicate myself through this. I know it could be worse, there’s been a yucky virus making its way around my group of friends, and as I can tell many of them have been much sicker than I feel. I’m guessing another day or two and I will be all better.
There were a few things that happened last week on the exciting side. Well, really only one, and that is that I opened an Etsy shop. Yes, I’ve had high hopes of selling my own dresses for a couple of years now, and last weekend was the weekend I said, why not. I only have one listing up right now, and it’s mostly to get acquainted with the whole posting and selling process. I made a fabric order yesterday and my goal is by mid-November to have at least five postings and by the end of the year to have ten. It’s a start and I know it won’t be an overnight success, but I am very excited about the possibilities. My only concern is that I will end up wanting to keep for myself a lot of what I make for the shop – dress making hoarder over here. Ha Ha!!
In other sewing related news, I finished the top of my hexagon quilt this weekend. I worked on it some last Sunday, and with only seven rows to go, I didn’t stop until I finished yesterday. It only took a couple of hours each day, and now I have the fun task of finding some backing material so that I can start hand quilting it. It really is fun looking for material, I think. And the hand quilting part is pretty fun too. I’m happy to say I am moving along with those goals I have set for the end of the year.
Speaking of which, I did get back to working out with a Body Space program last week, and it left me sore for about five days. Unfortunately, I only did this last Monday because then I felt my immune system go down and I didn’t want to over do it and end up even worse off. Probably by mid-week I will be up for day two.
The only other thing I did last week was teach school and work on end of the nine week’s paper work. I’m almost caught up with grading and since I don’t have the energy for much else today, I think I will sit and finish what I can so that can be out of the way. It’s our fall break and I am happy it seems it really will be a break. I only wished I felt better today cause I could be doing something more exciting. Maybe tomorrow…
Sorry you’re not feeling well Erika. Lord willing it won’t be for long. Yay 👏👏👏for getting your quilt top finished. Wondering what you’ll find for your backing and borders on it. Beautiful cotton fields and photos.
