Yup, I knew it. I knew that this year wasn’t going to slow down one bit, and I was right, because January 2013 has come and gone. I am now starting to think about daffodils and spring, which will soon be just around the corner… Oh wait, I just saw some daffodils today. What? I thought those didn’t show up until February?!
It was a good month and there was a lot going on.
I ate a lot this January which is probably where these few extra pounds came from. There was not one, but two parties I went to – a wedding reception and a surprise housewarming party, both with cake. Not to mention several date-nights, and an afternoon in Nashville which meant pizza. Not just any pizza either, but Mellow Mushroom pizza. I am definitely not complaining about all of the food, but it did help with my decision to get back into the exercise routine.
Shaun T., I didn’t miss you one bit!
This month had lots of rain and then some more rain which turned into ice. Then we had 70 degree weather which turned into a tornado. Well, it was officially declared a macroburst, but when I left my house the next morning and found roofs in the middle of people’s front yards, house parts stuck in trees, and then power lines that had to be dodged, tornado or not, it sure looked like tornado damage to me. And all of this was less than ten minutes from my house, just out of town. That is the closest I have ever been to anything like this, and we didn’t even go to the storm shelter! It is not usually a good thing to have hot humid days in the middle of winter.
In addition to storm damage, I also saw very early signs of spring. Looks like I am gonna be too late, once again, to get bulbs planted. Although, it may be short lived, the temps are dropping again to below freezing. We are only a little over a month into winter after all!
Moving on from the weather, this month I also gave in to my necessity to always have bangs. I think the longest I have let them grow has been to my chin. I thought this was the time they would finally get long, but no, I got tired of seeing myself without them, and off they went!
Also, it seems that my new car isn’t very new anymore. Especially when I saw that it hit 50,000 miles this month. Even as hard as I tried, I guess putting 24,000 miles on a car in a year is pretty much normal for us.
And lastly in some of the things that happened this month, I got a chance to make some homemade lotion. It has been a while since I had, and I forgot how much I enjoyed it. Because of this, I got online looking for some ingredients and ended up with something to review on my blog. There will be more about this to come, but in the meantime, I have something else to fill what little free time I have. I do so enjoy making homemade skin products!
So, that was my month in a shortened photo, blog version. It really was a very full month, and I can’t wait to see what is in store for the next.
And on a side note, all of these photos were via my instagram feed so apologies for the low quality iphone pictures I came up with. I do like Instagram, a lot, but I have noticed the pictures don’t look as good when I put them up on this little ole blog of mine.
Great photos! I have had my car for a few years and it only has 40,000 miles on it. But it’s hard to drive a lot of places in LA because of traffic people tend to stay in their circles hahaha. That cake looks amazing!

My driving problem is that most places I go are at least 20 miles away. I think I would rather take the long drive than the traffic though. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

Thanks for stopping by. I always love a day in Nashville! I am not originally from TN, so it is so much fun getting to know the city. You are right, there is so much to do!
