The Thursday Thrift: Black, White, and Red

Scroll down to content

I was starting to think I wouldn’t get a Thursday Thrift post up on time this week, once again. Why is this so hard lately? Well, hard isn’t the right word, there is nothing hard about these posts, in fact, the ones involving me writing about dresses, clothes, or even shoes, seem to be the fastest to come up with. It is just the time to take the outfit photos, that is what sometimes slows me down. Even this very minute as I am writing, I have yet to get my picture taken. It is hot outside! But when I do make it out there later this afternoon, hopefully it doesn’t rain, I will get to use my handy dandy tripod again. Instead of throwing it away, my guy fixed it – with duct tape. Why didn’t I think of that? Now maybe sometime soon I will get around to location scouting and just keep the tripod in the car so you all don’t have to see another ole picture of me somewhere in my backyard.

For this week, my thrifted find is this skirt. It is silk and it has these neat little stitched together panels, I guess that’s how I would describe it. I got it at a thrift store in Nashville a few years back, maybe consignment store would be a more appropriate description. It was definitely a high-end thrift store either way. It was kind of boutique-ish – probably not really a word – and they carry only designer-type labels. Things were a bit more pricey than say, my local Goodwill, but what they had would never be in my price range otherwise. It was a nice find, I should go back again someday. The name of the place is Designer Renaissance; it sounds high-end, don’t you think?

And coincidentally (or was it intentionally planned?), I wore this outfit the same day I started on my quilt. Black, white, and red perfectly coordinated. 😉

Quilt to Be| Skirt – Drama (thrifted) | Shirt – Daisy Fuentes | Shoes – Doc Martens (ebay) | fabric – JoAnne’s |

What is your favorite color combination? I really like these three lately, and I never thought I would have any reason to like red. Only in small amounts, unless you have seen my living room. Tastes change, I guess.

Just curious, what do you think of my Thursday Thrift posts? Do you have anything thrifty up on your blog? Leave me a comment and I will stop on by and check it out.
