Mix and Match // The Thursday Thrift

Pattern Mixing with Polka dots

Although, sometimes mixing doesn’t always produce matching, does it?  Is this still a trend, the whole pattern mixing thing?  I have been wanting to try it, and have with a few things, but I just haven’t gotten enough guts to go all out with the clashing is cool look.  This outfit today is my thrift inspiration of the week, and I think that the patterns look pretty good together, but what say you?  Geometric and polka dots, are they a fashion do, or a fashion don’t?

Polka dots are probably the safest print to mix, in my opinion.  You can tell I was timid about going all out, because my polka dots are very limited, just being on the front ruffle.  Black and white are also a safe option I think.  The geometric design on the skirt stands out enough to take away from the pattern on the shirt.  I thought about wearing this with a striped cardigan, but that might be a bit too much for me, or not – I have come across some pretty crazy pattern mixing online lately.  I went with some patterned tights instead, and with the boots I am wearing, they don’t show that much.  (Speaking of boots, these are another pair of shoes saved for the Shoeperwoman.com Shoe Challenge.)

Whether this trend is a few seasons behind or not, I am happy to be mixing and hopefully matching today!

I might be adding some more of this pattern clashing into my personal style; I kind of like it, especially if polka dots are involved.

Do you have a thrifty outfit or item up on your blog?  Leave me a link and let me know.  I am long over due for a Goodwill shopping day, so maybe next time I will have something new-to-me.  Until then, happy thrifting!
