Dear Diary 2018: Weeks 45 and 46

Scroll down to content

Good morning!  It is one of those days where it feels like a Monday but it’s Wednesday.  The can we just go back to bed and have another day off kind of days, but I am already half way into the week.  The last couple of weeks definitely weren’t the best of the year.  I won’t go in to too much detail and I will try and leave this post under 1000 words.

Week 45 – November 4th to November 10th:

It was a bit of a frustrating week.  We tried to feed bees this weekend, but it was cold and rainy.  We went to check on the hives, and they sounded silent to me.  I thought the bees flew away, but we wouldn’t know for sure until we had a warmer and drier day to open them up.

In other frustrating news, our heater was not working right and once again, our HVAC unit had to be looked at.  The third time since July, and another couple hundred dollars later…

Also, a lost GoPro that I couldn’t help but feel a little bad about.  “You should put your GoPro on your escaping goats,” I said a few weeks earlier to my nephew, totally jokingly. You can guess what happened with that.  Although, I don’t know that it was I that was the deciding factor in that decision.  I was told the idea had already been thought of.  I still felt bad when the GoPro was probably lost in the woods forever.

What else… Oh, yes all these personal aches and pains that are suddenly showing up.  Worst of them all, my tailbone.  I am pretty sure it has to do with the way I sit, but it seems even lying down hurts.  I am wondering if it’s sciatic nerve pain, but then why?  Also, this new workout I started, Liift4, has me sore everyday!  I don’t stretch like I used to, so I am trying to make that a priority.  Plus, I tweaked my wrist and it hurts as well.  Meow, meow, meow…

Week 46 – November 11th – 17th:

This week started off with a nice to do list, but my guy suddenly felt sick and as the first day of the week went on, he felt worse.  We at least got to quickly open the bee hives and feed the bees, and it was nice to know that they were still in there.  The rest of this Sunday, we did nothing.  Well, almost nothing.  I quilted two blocks on my quilt, while the boy watched football and my guy slept on the couch.  But before the almost nothing, we found the missing GoPro!  Yay!  I was so happy about that.

Next day, my guy was feeling a little better, and he made it to work.  The boy and I had our usual school and such to do for the week, but overall, this week was an emotional one.  There was sad news in our neck of the woods, and while it mostly pertained to Stephen and his day to day, the week for all of us was kind of up and down.

When we are sad, Yuki is sad.

Next on the list of memorable things that happened this week, snow, in November.  That doesn’t happen much in West Tennessee.  In fact, I can’t remember it ever happening since I’ve lived here, all 14 years.  The cold snap didn’t last too long, we were up to 60’s by the weekend, and the roads didn’t end up too bad.  I still stayed home with the exception of driving my boy to work on the day of snow.

Ethan and I ended the week being able to help do what Stephen wasn’t able to do the day he was sick.  And with an extra set of hands, the deer stand is up and my guys are ready for hunting season.

They are getting a later start this year than usual, but are very much looking forward to it.  Me, I am looking forward to my November dressmaking spree, and it’s already started this week.

Now you are all caught up.  This week is moving along nicely, and I won’t wait so long to post again.  I’ll be back in a couple of days with more about my humdrum life.  🙂
