Hello, readers! How is this Wednesday treating you? I’m gonna start this post off with a confession: it’s after noon, I am still in pajamas, and the only thing I have really done all day is sit in front of the computer. I currently have 1,200 FitBit steps and I’m feeling a little unproductive as far as my normal routine goes. But my productivity isn’t completely at a loss. Today, I’ve changed my blog theme to something new, and as usual, I feel the need to let you all know this like it’s big news or something. Truth is, today it is big news cause I paid money for my theme. I am kind of locked into it unless I give up with figuring it out within the 30 day refund period. (I hope I read that right that there is a refund period?!)
It all started on Monday, or Sunday night really. There’s always something I dislike about the blogging themes I choose. My last one (Radcliffe 2 for my own personal reference), had the nice featured images, my personal header worked well, and the picture sizes were not that bad. The front page though, I didn’t really like it. I am so picky with my blog design, it’s almost like I am picking out a pair of shoes, so my guy suggested Square Space as he has many times before. I finally thought I’d take the leap and switch platforms so that’s how this all started. I spent all day Monday building a website on Square Space. ALL DAY. Things were going great until it came time to import my site from WordPress. In my blogging time, I have accumulated 747 blog posts. About 1/3 of them imported correctly. There was going to be a lot of work before me if I wanted to keep them all on my new site – which I did. There were a few tears, and my guy was overly helpful, but I couldn’t see myself ready to tackle that task, whatever it ended up being. So, I came back to the WordPress theme site and browsed every theme I thought I might like. I did a demo with every single one on my list and even sampled through the ones that cost. This one that you see today, is what I have finally chosen (Veni, so I don’t forget). I am working on it, and there are a few new features that I am trying to get the hang of. One of which will be the portfolio section. I have created a Photo of the Week page that unfortunately doesn’t send out notifications when I post to it. So, until I can figure my way around that, stop by the homepage, RejoiceForTheDay.com, every so often to see what my portfolio looks like.
Even though this is taking up a good amount of time this week, it’s a good time for me to be working on it. Spring break is upon us and I should have some extra time to myself. I also should be doing laundry, and figuring out what to make for dinner right about now, so I will leave you all here.
Thanks for taking the time to read all that I have to say. The blog wouldn’t be the same without readers. 🙂
Any of you other WordPress uses have a hard time picking out a theme? I’d like to know I am not the only one…
*edited to add: I have changed it yet again. Booklet is now my theme. Veni didn’t even last a whole week.
You are speaking directly to me! I know I should update my theme but I really like how I’ve tweaked mine. Haven’t seen any others via WP that do what I want them to do so I’m stuck for now. Best of luck – I hope it’s fun!
