It’s Friday afternoon just around 5:00 PM. This day has flown by! It really only feels like it should be 2 o’clock or something like that. We are down to the last week of school starting Monday, and I have a feeling it is going to be a good one. Good because the boy is almost done with all of his work as of today, and good because I am up to date on most of my grading. Now, just to get the end of the school year production stuff out of the way. Our little school group puts on a ‘small’ little end of the year program/party for the parents, and even though it ends up being fun in the end, the days leading up to it are always a little stressful for me. So far, I am doing alright. We have two weeks left and I am getting my stuff done early. Well, I feel like I am anyway. I am sure I will have plenty to do those few days right before. But for now, I’m feeling great about the end of the school year stuff.
My life hasn’t just been about school this week, even though it seems that everything I do revolves around it these days. I’ve started a little sewing project. It is what I am making for May’s Monthly Stitch challenge, and when I am not doing that, I am day dreaming about fabric and Indie Pattern designers. There’s a whole shindig going on for June over at the Monthly Stitch. It’s quite a sewing ordeal, actually. I’ve been wanting to be a part of it for at least a year, and it seems like this year it may actually happen. I have yet to narrow down which Independent Pattern Designers I want to go with for my June makes, but I have my mind pretty much set on one of them: a Moneta dress from Colette Patterns. I’d love to take part in all the projects for the month of June, and I am going to try my hardest to participate in them, but I have doubts as to the amount of time I will find to make something each week. I am getting prepared though, so a fabric order must be placed before the weekend is over. Oh, and a pattern order, or two, as well.
In other sewing stories from the week, I got to be a Home Ec sewing teacher the last few weeks. My niece had to make a dress and I got to help her with it. She just finished it today. For being her first make, it came out pretty nice. It had sleeves and it was lined. Eek! I’m glad I could have been of some assistance, especially since most of what I make doesn’t have sleeves or linings because I think they can be a little tricky. She is going to wear it she says, and that means a lot. I don’t know how many dresses I made when I was first learning to sew that I actually wore. I kind of wished that I had kept them around just to see how bad they really were. They probably got turned into skirts, come to think of it. I made a lot of skirts back then!
The rest of my time this week was back and forth between the gym for me and gymnastics for my boy. This new job of his is keeping him pretty busy, and very motivated. With the extra gym time he is able to have, he is really learning a lot. It’s great to see his excitement with whatever new trick he comes home able to do. Just as long as he keeps landing on his feet, I’m fine with however many twirling, flippy, jumps he does. (Actually, I know he won’t always land on his feet. And actually, I am okay with that.)
Well, that is all I am going to write about for now. My weeks are starting to get lost in my brain because I am so used to writing them down, but lately, I haven’t found the time to write much. At least a few of the highlights of this week will live forever.
Until next time, have a great Friday!
