I’ve been home almost all week and it is such a weird feeling. I’ve gotten online and caught up on some regular blogs that I read, I’ve had coffee in bed, and I’ve even sat at the school table and graded papers during the daytime. My house is somewhat clean and I don’t feel like I’m rushing to be somewhere at any minute. My life is good! Even when I’m busy though, life is good, but I am definitely enjoying this bit of downtime this week.
As always, I’ve got some things I’d like to get done before the year is over, and like I have before, I am going to tell you all about them. My list isn’t too long and it’s completely doable, so I fully expect to have a nice checked off to-do list in a few months time.
My main goals are these:
- Finish the top of my quilt. I’d like to have it ready to start with the hand quilting by January 2018. I worked on it a little bit last month and it’s maybe half way done, which isn’t bad considering I’ve only really worked on it maybe three to four times since I started it. A good several evenings devoted to just it should get me where I want to be with that.
- Have another go at Body Space’s Shortcut to Size program. This I did two years ago and ended up with impressive results. I will admit, I’ve been very lax with my gym routine lately. Partly because of time, but mostly because I just haven’t been feeling it. I have had no motivation at all to really work out. I’m feeling and seeing the affects of it now though. Weights are such an important part of working out, and I have just been ignoring them. These days I’m only lifting heavy bags of sugar, bins of muscadines, and buckets of wine – ha ha! But those days are now over for a little while, so I should get back to lifting weights. If I start this program ASAP, I should be done by the end of the year.
- Get more strict with my spending money. I’ve been a little lax with this lately too, but it is something that should probably be at the top of the list. Just a few months of more saving should get me exactly where I want to be with this. There is only one piece of material that I have to buy right this very second, and everything else can wait. My spending money these days mostly goes towards fabric and the clearance racks at Kohl’s.
A beautiful bit of this Cotton+Steel rayon challis would make a wonderful, flowy dress! - Get my spaces more organized. I always need to do this and it always gets put on the back burner. My closet and cabinets specifically need all the work they can get. I have four junk drawers in my kitchen, at least, and can never find lids for containers. If I were to clear out one drawer that problem would be solved. I spend the most time in the kitchen, cooking and cleaning, so I guess I don’t want to spend anymore time in there than I have to. Well, I really have to. I’d love to make a trip to IKEA to help with this little organization task, but I’m afraid that will put me behind with number 3. For the time being, I can make do with what I have and then next year, I will be ready to buy all the organizational helps I can get.
There you have it, some of my goals for the rest of the year. Totally doable! You will notice, I didn’t mention anything about blog goals for once, but I am afraid the exercising and organizing goal has come up a time, or many, before. Nice to know what my weaknesses are, huh?
